About this opportunity
The U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Cyberspace and Digital Policy (CDP) is seeking cooperative agreement applications from 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations to build capacity for responsible, inclusive, and rights-respecting approaches to artificial intelligence (AI). The project aims to support engagement with target countries at United Nations fora and events to promote the ethical development, deployment, use, and governance of AI technologies. The evaluation criteria will focus on how well the proposal aligns with the strategic goals and objectives of the CDP and the Digital Connectivity and Cybersecurity Partnership (DCCP). The deadline for application submission is 11:59 PM EDT on August 10, 2024.
The total funding available for this opportunity is $3,000,000, and the anticipated award period is 36 months. The project seeks to leverage existing UN initiatives, such as UNESCO's work on AI ethics and the OHCHR's B-Tech program, to build the capacity of both government officials and non-government stakeholders to advance responsible AI policies and governance approaches.
