About this opportunity

The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency is soliciting applications under the Boosting Innovative GEOINT - Science & Technology Broad Agency Announcement through December 14, 2026, with Topic 06 - Magnifying University Science Expertise (MUSE) 2 currently active and abstract submissions due March 31, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. ET.

Eligible applicants are colleges and universities with programs in applied mathematics, geophysics, aerospace engineering, geosciences, or civil engineering. NGA intends to make one or more grants with a total program budget of $25.0 million across all awards. Individual award maximums are $1.0 million for a 24-month base funding period and $0.5 million each for three optional subsequent 12-month periods. No cost share is required. Travel costs cannot exceed 4 percent of proposed budget. Proposed work must fall within Technology Readiness Levels 1-6 and operate at the unclassified level; no security clearances are required for contractor personnel.

The program funds two separate subject areas requiring independent submissions: Geodesy and Geomatics. Each applicant must clearly identify which subject area is being addressed and cannot combine both in a single proposal. Geodesy proposals must expose students to fundamental principles and address one of three focus areas: Gravity Field and Geoid Modeling; Crustal and Core Magnetic Field Observations and Modeling; or Marine Geodetic Data Collection Techniques and Sensors. Geomatics proposals must address one of three focus areas: 3D Geospatial and Photogrammetry; Multimodal Multiscale 3D Scene Reconstruction; or Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) Applications. Both subject areas require substantial direct student involvement (undergraduate and graduate). Curriculum development is strongly recommended but not required. Proposals must demonstrate how work will broaden exposure to the field and prepare students for careers in the discipline.

Full proposals are due May 7, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. ET, with estimated performance start August 12, 2026. Grantees must submit quarterly Research Performance Progress Reports, maintain financial reporting via SF-425, and participate in quarterly status discussions and site visits. The opportunity is funded under CFDA 12.630 (Basic, Applied, and Advanced Research in Science and Engineering). Abstracts should be emailed to the Grants Officer and Grants Specialist; proposals must be submitted through Grants.gov with courtesy notification to program contacts.
