About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs published this Special Notice of intent to sole source a preventive maintenance contract for generators at its Maryland Health Care System facilities. The notice aims to award a full-service contract to Cummins Power Systems to perform monthly and annual preventive maintenance on eight emergency generator sets, 20 transfer switches, and associated control panels, switchgear, paralleling and monitoring systems located at the VA Medical Center in Washington D.C.

The objective is to sustain essential electrical distribution and life safety systems in the event of utility outages through preventive maintenance of the emergency generators. Contractors have 30 days to respond solely for the agency to determine if a competitive procurement is necessary. Cummins Power Systems provided verification the generators require proprietary service as sole source products. The scope of work is limited to preventive maintenance, and repairs or component replacements would require separate procurement to ensure emergency power capabilities at the facility.
