About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs Network Contracting Office 6 is conducting market research to identify potential sources for a construction project to repair fire and smoke doors at the Fayetteville VA Medical Center in North Carolina. The project, identified as #565-25-101, requires door specialists, electricians, wall finishers, and laborers to repair doors in Buildings 1 and 3, with work to be completed in accordance with VA specifications, design guides, and infection control guidelines. Interested contractors must submit responses via email to Contract Specialist Elaine Belber by March 6, 2025, at 11:00 AM EST, including company information, SAM registration, socio-economic size, capabilities statement, and responses to specific project questions. The evaluation will focus on contractors' experience with similar contracts, capacity to complete the project, and bonding capacity. Respondents must demonstrate compliance with subcontracting limitations and provide detailed information about their ability to meet the project requirements.

The procurement falls under NAICS code 236220 for Commercial and Institutional Building Construction, with a size standard of $45.0 million, and PSC code Z1DA for Maintenance of Hospitals and Infirmaries. The VA intends to set aside the contract for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSBs) or Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (VOSBs) if at least two qualified firms are identified. The anticipated magnitude of construction is between $25,000 and $100,000, with a performance period of 150 days from the Notice to Proceed. The project will prioritize minimal interruption to facility operations, with most construction to be performed during non-working hours. If responses from qualified firms prove inadequate, the VA may consider an alternate set-aside or full and open competition, ensuring the best value and most capable contractor is selected for the fire door repair project.
