About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Pacific Air Forces is conducting market research to identify potential sources for a Radio Frequency over Fiber (RFoF) link system at Yokota Air Base in Japan. The Sources Sought notice seeks contractors capable of providing a 4-channel programmable bi-directional RFoF system that supports radio connections within a 3 MHz to 1.215 GHz frequency range. Technical specifications include 8-channel CWDM optical aggregation, 20W maximum RF input power, and compatibility with standard 19" 1U rack enclosures. The government will evaluate potential vendors based on their ability to meet the detailed technical requirements outlined in the Statement of Work, including system performance, documentation, and compliance with safety standards. Interested contractors should note the response deadline of May 9, 2025, and that this is a market research notice, not a formal solicitation.
The pre-solicitation notice does not indicate any specific set-aside designations for the contract. The RFoF system must be delivered within 3-4 months of contract award, with a standard one-year warranty covering parts and labor. While no specific award value is mentioned, the technical complexity suggests this will be a specialized procurement in the Radio and Television Broadcasting and Wireless Communications Equipment Manufacturing sector (NAICS 334220). The system must include remote management capabilities via TCP/IP, independently configurable RF channels, and comply with standards like EN60950-1:2006 and FCC CFR-47 Part 15 Subpart B. Potential contractors can contact A1C Andre McNeil or SrA Daniel Strouse for additional information, though the notice explicitly states that no reimbursement will be provided for response preparation and the government reserves the right to reject any or all industry input.
