About this opportunity
The Department of the Interior's National Park Service is seeking to procure high-quality hay for bison feed at Yellowstone National Park through solicitation #140PS125Q0010. The contract requires vendors to supply 50-125 tons of small square hay bales and 200-800 tons of large square hay bales, with strict quality specifications including weed-free certification, less than 60% alfalfa content, and hay cut only in the current calendar year. Vendors must be located within 150 miles of the park's north entrance and capable of delivering hay during specific timeframes: large bales between June 28-July 25 and small bales between August 3-September 26. Quotes are due by February 28, 2025, at 12:00 PM Mountain Standard Time, with questions accepted until February 14, 2025. The award will be evaluated based on price, technical capability, and prior experience, though the specific weighting of these factors was not explicitly detailed.
This solicitation is a 100% small business set-aside under NAICS code 111940 (Hay Farming) with a $2.5M size standard. The contract includes a base period and four option years, spanning from March 10, 2025, to September 26, 2030. The place of performance is 256 Stephens Creek Road in Gardiner, Montana, where deliveries will be accepted Monday through Thursday between 7:00 AM and 3:00 PM. Hay specifications require bales to be green in color, mold-free, and meet specific weight requirements: large square bales between 1,150-1,800 pounds and small square bales between 70-80 pounds. The National Park Service reserves the right to inspect fields before cutting and test hay quality, with final acceptance determined upon delivery. While specific award value was not disclosed, the solicitation indicates a comprehensive multi-year procurement for feeding bison at the park's corrals.
