About this opportunity
The Department of the Navy Naval Supply Systems Command is soliciting quotations for one compact dual polarimetric X-band Doppler weather radar system for the United States Naval Academy using simplified acquisition procedures for commercial items. The system must operate at 9.4 GHz with simultaneous transmission/receiving capability, an observation range exceeding 60 km, output data in CF/Radial and NEXRAD Level-II formats, and weigh less than 68 kg. The solicitation includes five contract line items covering the radar system with five-year warranty and training, required cabling in multiple lengths, a non-penetrating roof-mounted tower at least 2 meters tall, a Windows 11 weather radar server, and shipping and freight. Award will be made to the lowest-priced responsible quotation meeting the technical specifications unless past performance information indicates that lowest price does not represent best value. The deadline for proposal submission was February 27, 2026 at 10:00 AM EST, with questions required to be submitted by February 23, 2026 at 4:00 PM EST, and a mandatory site visit was scheduled for February 20, 2026.
This acquisition has no set-aside designation and represents a new requirement with no incumbent contractor. The contract will be firm-fixed-price under NAICS code 334511 with a small business size standard of 1,350 employees; however, this procurement is not reserved for small businesses. No specific award value or budget range was disclosed in the solicitation documents. Delivery is required within 60 days of purchase order award to the Naval Academy located at 572C Holloway Road, Annapolis, Maryland 21402-1363. All items must be new, not refurbished, and comply with Trade Agreements Act-designated country of origin requirements, with quotations due on an FOB destination basis with NET 30 payment terms.
