About this opportunity
The National Institute of Standards and Technology seeks one wavelength swept light source for photonic thermometry on a firm-fixed-price basis, with quotations due May 19, 2026, and pre-quote inquiries due within two calendar days of solicitation issuance. This is a brand-name-only acquisition for an Anritsu product with no set-aside applied.
Place of performance and delivery is Gaithersburg, Maryland. The equipment must be new, unused stock in original manufacturer packaging and is mission-critical to NIST's Standard Photonic Thermometer (SPoT) project, a multi-year, multi-million dollar initiative funded jointly by NIST-on-a-Chip and the United States Air Force. Technical specifications are exacting: continuous wave, single longitudinal mode output centered at 1550 nm ±5 nm; tunable sweep range from 15 nm to 70 nm; sweep frequency of 150 Hz or greater; coherence length exceeding 100 m; average output optical power of at least 10 mW; pre-aligned 9/125 mm single-mode fiber with FC/APC connector; LVTTL trigger output with SMA interface; USB control interface; benchtop format; and accompanying LabView drivers and Python scripts. Delivery is FOB Destination within six months of order. The contractor must supply a minimum five-year warranty following acceptance and provide all original documentation and software. NIST will conduct performance testing and inspection on-site within ten business days of receipt, with sole discretion to require repair or replacement of nonconforming equipment at no cost to the contractor. Payment is Net 30 days at 100% upon installation and acceptance. All quoters must maintain active SAM.gov registration at submission and throughout performance. Quotations must be submitted electronically to cielo.ibarra@nist.gov and donald.collie@nist.gov with the RFQ number in the subject line. Price quotations must remain valid for 90 days. Award goes to the lowest-priced, technically acceptable quoter demonstrating compliance with all minimum requirements. NAICS code is 334516, Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing; PSC is 6640, Laboratory Equipment and Supplies.
