About this opportunity
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), part of the Department of Commerce, is soliciting quotations for 3-Axis Motorized Stages to support its Sensor Science Division's CHIPS project on Thermal 3D Imaging of Advanced Packages. The procurement requires delivery of a complete scanning stage system consisting of an integrated 3-axis XYZ stage stack with specified travel ranges (X: 300 mm, Y: 100 mm, Z: minimum 50 mm), an additional 75-100 mm linear stage for a fourth axis, and a multi-axis motion controller supporting at least four axes. All components must meet strict performance specifications including 2 micrometers accuracy, 1.5 micrometers repeatability, 1.5 micrometers minimum step size, and must support a 4 kg payload with a total stack height under 375 mm, fabricated from non-magnetic materials with Ethernet or USB communication compatible with LabVIEW, MATLAB, or Python. Award will be made to the lowest priced, technically acceptable offeror whose equipment meets or exceeds all minimum requirements specified in the Statement of Work. Quotations must be submitted electronically to the Contract Specialist and Contracting Officer no later than 5:00 PM Eastern Time on April 17, 2026, with pre-quote inquiries due within two calendar days of the April 7, 2026 solicitation issuance date.
This solicitation is designated as a Total Small Business set-aside with no incumbent contractors identified. No specific award value or budget range has been disclosed in the solicitation documents. The contractor must deliver the complete system within 12 weeks of award, with payment of 100 percent due upon installation and acceptance by NIST's Technical Point of Contact under net 30-day terms. The equipment must be new, manufacturer-authorized equipment shipped in original packaging with complete documentation and software, capable of supporting a 4 kg payload oriented horizontally with mounting compatible with -20 screws for installation on a flat laser table. Performance location is NIST's Gaithersburg facility (100 Bureau Drive, Building 221/B205, Gaithersburg, MD 20899), where the government will conduct inspection and acceptance within 14 business days of receipt, and a minimum one-year warranty must be provided on the entire system.
