About this opportunity
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency seeks proposals to develop extreme power, broadband amplifiers and agile waveform techniques through its Waveform Agile RF Directed Energy program. The goal is to extend the range of high power microwave back-door attack against electronics by ten times the current capability. Proposals are due April 16, 2021 and will be evaluated based on objectives to create a traveling-wave amplifier meeting specified bandwidth and power metrics, computational models for electromagnetic coupling prediction, and tools for identifying electronic system vulnerabilities. Awards are expected to begin performance periods in October 2021 under the program's three technical areas addressing these objectives.
There is no set-aside designation for this opportunity. Research will be conducted under PSC code R408 and NAICS code 541715 with potential work classified at the Secret level. Multiple awards are anticipated over four phases totaling $51 million to develop hardware in the amplifier and waveform areas while the modeling work remains unclassified. Technical area 1 seeks to produce the first amplifier meeting defined bandwidth and power handling goals by phase 4 in 48 months.
