About this opportunity
The Federal Bureau of Prisons Central Office is issuing a Request for Information to assess vendor capabilities for water loop treatment services and chemical supply across approximately 122 correctional institutions nationwide, with responses due by August 3, 2026. This is market research under FAR Part 10 and does not commit the government to award a contract; responses will not be treated as proposals.
The BOP seeks qualified vendors capable of supplying boiler and chiller water loop treatment chemicals and services nationwide. Vendors must demonstrate corporate structure, UEI and CAGE codes, NAICS and PSC codes, years in business, relevant experience with correctional facilities and government agencies, and financial capacity for nationwide fulfillment. Respondents must clarify whether they operate as manufacturers, distributors, brokers, or resellers and describe how they will achieve nationwide coverage, including distribution and warehousing locations, geographic coverage limitations, and any state or jurisdictional distribution restrictions.
Product response requirements include available hot and cold water loop chemicals, delivery modes (bags, pallets, tri-axle loads, buckets), service frequency, pricing structure for testing and chemical additions, and sample tracking capabilities. Vendors must address national distribution, lead times, backorder mitigation, inventory management, lot traceability, and expiration-date procedures. Operational capabilities must cover direct shipping to federal institutions, experience with secure facilities and restricted-access delivery environments, quality assurance procedures compliant with ASTM and AASHTO specifications, and regulatory compliance monitoring procedures. Responses are limited to 10–15 pages, excluding attachments, with only high-level ROM estimates requested.

Currently the BOP provides facilities and maintenance operations for approximately 122 institutions nationwide.
The intent of this RFI is to assess vendor capabilities, product availability, regulatory compliance, nationwide distribution and service capacity, pricing structure, and operational support related to water loop treatment services and associated chemical supply at various Bureau of Prisons nationwide.
