About this opportunity
The Fish and Wildlife Service seeks arborist services for hazard tree removal at the Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge in Olympia, Washington, with quotes due May 28 at 5:00 PM Pacific time. This is a Total Small Business set-aside.
Place of performance is the Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge complex in Olympia, Washington. The work requires removal of a large double-trunked black cottonwood tree approximately 174 feet tall (north stem) and 160 feet tall (south stem) that poses an immediate safety threat to public infrastructure and the parking lot. The tree exhibits significant decay and structural separation in co-dominant stems. The contractor must section the tree down to leave two 30–40-foot trunk snags, lower limbs in a controlled manner to protect the Education Center building, access ramp, and parking area, and remove all branches and logs smaller than 24 inches in diameter from the site. Large trunk sections 24 inches or larger and no more than 8 feet long will be retained by the refuge. Period of performance runs June 1 through July 31, 2026, with delivery required by June 15. A mandatory site visit is scheduled for May 27 at 10:00 AM at the first parking lot; prospective offerors must RSVP to Kurt_Roblek@fws.gov. The contractor must coordinate with the Refuge Manager at least three weeks in advance to facilitate parking lot and facility closures. Award is firm fixed-price to a responsible offeror based on applicable safety certifications, liability insurance, favorable experience, and past performance, weighted approximately equally to price. Offerors must be registered in SAM.gov with a valid Unique Entity Identifier. The NAICS code is 561730 (Landscaping Services); PSC is S208 (Housekeeping—Landscaping/Groundskeeping).
