About this opportunity

The Department of the Navy Naval Supply Systems Command is procuring 14 units of V/UHF AIU EXTENDED equipment under NSN 7R-5895-016300207-P8. This procurement requires engineering source approval by the design control activity to maintain quality standards, as the item is flight critical and existing technical data is insufficient to support full and open competition. Only previously approved sources have been solicited due to their unique design capability, engineering skills, and manufacturing knowledge, along with their retention of essential data rights that are not economically available to the Government. Companies not currently approved as sources must submit detailed information following NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support source approval procedures, though the qualification timeline typically cannot accommodate award delays. The solicitation was posted on November 15, 2024, with responses due by September 18, 2025.

This procurement does not utilize any set-aside designations and appears limited to qualified sources who have previously received Government approval for this specific item. The contract specifies delivery FOB origin for the 14 units required, with reference number 186400-1. The extended timeline from posting to response deadline suggests a complex approval process for new sources, though specific award values or budget ranges are not disclosed in this pre-solicitation notice. The procurement falls under the IT and Telecom category for analog voice products hardware, indicating the technical nature of the equipment being acquired.
