About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Air Mobility Command is seeking to acquire a virtual reality welding training simulator to drastically improve its training program for hands-on skill-building and welding performance. The agency requires a simulator that can realistically simulate GMAW, SMAW, and GTAW welding processes, producing accurate visuals, sounds, and movements to seamlessly transfer virtual training into real-world applications. The solicitation outlines detailed technical requirements, including a touchscreen monitor, VR headset, various welding devices, and the ability to track and score welding technique parameters. Award will be made to the lowest-priced, technically acceptable offeror based on price and technical acceptability.
This requirement is set aside for 100% small business. The government has provided a Statement of Work and combined synopsis/solicitation, and will accept proposals until 12:00 PM EST on September 25, 2024. The contract will be awarded as a single firm-fixed-price contract, with delivery required within 60 days after award. The virtual reality welding simulator will be delivered to the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, NJ location.

We strive to drastically improve our training program for hands-on skill-building and welding performance. The integration of a virtual reality welding simulator will be the corner stone of this program. This training simulator produces realistic welding puddle visuals, accurate sounds, and movements. What can be learned virtually with a welding simulator seamlessly transfers into real-world applications, hands-on welding just as aircraft flight simulators do for pilots. This machine will allow us to meet deployment tasking requests for vehicle mechanics proficient in welding.
