About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration (VA) is seeking wheelchair transportation services for the Veterans Health Care System of the Ozarks, covering multiple counties in Arkansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma. The procurement will support special mode transportation for veteran patients, requiring 24/7/365 service to transport patients to and from VA medical facilities, local medical appointments, and Community Care appointments. Potential vendors must respond to a Sources Sought Request for Information (RFI) by 9:00 AM CST on December 23, 2024, providing details about their company, business size, socioeconomic status, and contract vehicle capabilities. The VA will use these responses to determine the procurement strategy for the upcoming solicitation, with vendors encouraged to submit estimated market research pricing. Evaluation criteria will focus on the vendor's ability to provide comprehensive transportation coverage across the specified service area, which includes eight VA facilities and multiple counties.
The procurement does not currently have a specific set-aside designation, though the VA is interested in small business participation. The NAICS code for this opportunity is 485991 (Special Needs Transportation), with a small business size standard of $19 million. The VA anticipates approximately 6,000 annual wheelchair transportation services across the defined service area. Vendors must demonstrate capability to provide sufficient vehicles and coverage for patient transportation, with service requirements spanning Washington, Benton, Madison, Carroll, Adair, Delaware, Cherokee, Sebastian, Crawford, and multiple other counties in the three-state region. While no specific award value is mentioned, the comprehensive service requirements and extensive geographic coverage suggest a potentially significant contract opportunity for qualified transportation providers.
