About this opportunity
The Department of the Navy's Military Sealift Command is seeking a contractor to prepare for and accomplish the lay berth and mid-term availability of the USNS MATTHEW PERRY (T-AKE 9), a naval support vessel. The contract will require the selected contractor to perform ship repair and maintenance services at a facility located on the West Coast of the United States. The anticipated performance period is from October 1, 2025, to September 30, 2026. Potential contractors must complete a non-disclosure agreement to access the technical work item package and government-furnished information. The solicitation will be made available on April 2, 2025, through the Procurement Integrated Enterprise Environment Solicitation Module, with the agency indicating the contract will be awarded under full and open competition after market research.
No specific set-aside designations are specified for this contract opportunity, meaning all responsible sources may submit a proposal. While no incumbent contractor is named in the pre-solicitation notice, the contract is specifically targeted at ship repair and repairing businesses within the 336611 NAICS category (Ship Building and Repairing). The specific award value is not disclosed in the pre-solicitation notice. The contract is classified under the Product Service Code J999-P for Non-Nuclear Ship Repair (West), indicating the specialized nature of the required services. The geographical constraint requires the performing facility to be located on the West Coast, which will likely narrow the pool of potential bidders to contractors with appropriate maritime repair capabilities in that region.
