About this opportunity

The U.S. Coast Guard, a component of the Department of Homeland Security, has issued a Special Notice for the procurement of marine parts for the USCGC Walnut. The notice addresses the urgent need to replace corroded and non-operational port and starboard anchor ground tackle handwheel and brake band assemblies. During anchoring operations, the crew discovered significant corrosion that has limited their ability to use both anchor handling systems, with the port side completely non-functional and the starboard side approaching failure. The solicitation is for Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) parts from Appleton Marine to restore the vessel's anchor handling capabilities. The contract has been designated as a Sole Source special notice targeting small businesses.

Contractors interested in this opportunity must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) and will be evaluated on a Lowest Price Technically Acceptable (LPTA) basis using a firm fixed price contract structure. The specific requirements include supplying two complete sets of marine parts, including trunnion seals, retainers, shims, bolts, washers, bearings, and lock nuts. Delivery is mandated within 365 days of contract award to the USCGC Walnut's homeport in Pensacola, Florida. The technical point of contact is CWO Joseph Harris, and all questions must be directed to the Contracting Officer. Eligible contractors must provide all specified materials as listed in Section 2 of the document, with the Coast Guard already possessing the drive shaft assemblies. The opportunity is set aside exclusively for small businesses, providing a targeted contracting avenue for smaller marine equipment and parts suppliers.
