About this opportunity
The Department of Homeland Security's United States Coast Guard is seeking a contractor to perform comprehensive flooring upgrades on the USCGC WAESCHE, located in Alameda, California. The solicitation requires replacing deck flooring in three specific areas: the Officer Wardroom/Lounge, First Class Lounge, and Crew's Lounge, totaling 784 square feet. Contractors must remove existing vinyl and carpet down to bare metal, power tool clean surfaces, install self-leveling underlayment, and install Mannington Amtico Spacia Decking in American Walnut Cocoa color. The project mandates strict adherence to Surface Forces Logistics Center Standard Specifications for surface preparation, welding, preservation, and interior deck covering installation. Proposals are due by April 25, 2025, with all work to be completed by June 13, 2025, and contractors must implement extensive protective measures to prevent contamination of vessel components during renovation.
This contract opportunity is not set aside for any specific business category and falls under NAICS category 336611 for Ship Building and Repairing. The project requires detailed technical expertise in marine vessel renovation, with specific requirements including visual inspections, surface preparation to bare metal, and precise installation of vinyl flooring and cove base molding. Contractors must be prepared to work in a controlled maritime environment, following stringent Coast Guard specifications and quality standards. The project scope involves removing and replacing deck covering in three distinct lounge areas, with a total surface area of 784 square feet. The place of performance is the Coast Guard facility in Alameda, California, with a clear timeline for completion by mid-June 2025. While specific award value is not explicitly stated, the complexity of the work and maritime-specific requirements suggest a specialized and potentially significant contract opportunity.
