About this opportunity

The U.S. Coast Guard, under the Department of Homeland Security, has issued a Special Notice for Main Diesel Engine (MDE) service technical support on the USCGC Stratton. This opportunity is designated as a Total Small Business set-aside and has been posted for informational purposes only, as it has been awarded on a sole-source basis. The notice was published on November 4, 2025, with a deadline of November 7, 2025. The work will be performed at Naval Base Alameda in California and involves corrective maintenance validation and monitoring services for the vessel's primary propulsion systems.

The primary objective is to provide a qualified service technician to monitor Coast Guard personnel and validate all corrective maintenance work on both main diesel engines, ensuring strict compliance with Original Equipment Manufacturer standards and safety requirements. The engines have experienced significant performance degradation, including low compression in one engine, out-of-specification exhaust temperatures, fuel leaks, pump failures, and sensor malfunctions following the expiration of their major overhaul intervals. Work is scheduled to commence on November 10, 2025, and continue through November 31, 2025, or until 100 percent operational completion is achieved, whichever occurs first, with compensation capped at the quoted cost including all labor and travel expenses. The Coast Guard will provide all Government Furnished Equipment needed for repairs. Eligible contractors must be small businesses and will be required to submit technician identification information to the Government Technical Point of Contact, LTJG Igor Guerrero, to gain base access for work at the Alameda facility.
