About this opportunity

The US Coast Guard is procuring replacement reduction gear water pumps for the USCGC Polar Star through this solicitation, as the current pumps onboard are obsolete and require replacement under a Technical Configuration Technical Order (TCTO) currently in development. The agency seeks to acquire a total of six AMPCO pump units: three complete pump assemblies with bearing frames and 7.5 hp motors, and three pump assemblies without motors, all featuring 4" 150# ANSI flange suction and 3" 150# ANSI flange discharge specifications with 56 FT head at 300 gpm at 1750 rpm. The pumps must include 8-1/8" impellers and meet specific part number requirements (PN-ABZCH2-43C-250-EM3710T for complete assemblies and PN-ABZCH2-43C-250 for motor-less units). The solicitation was posted on June 24, 2025, with a response deadline of July 8, 2025, providing potential contractors with a tight two-week window for proposal submission. Questions regarding the statement of work should be directed to James Sanford at the provided contact information.

This procurement opportunity is designated as a total small business set-aside, restricting participation to qualified small business contractors. The contract does not specify award values or budget ranges, though the technical specifications and quantities suggest a substantial marine equipment procurement. The parts carry a 6-7 week lead time for delivery, indicating the timeline contractors must accommodate for manufacturing and shipping. Performance will occur with delivery to the US Coast Guard Base Seattle in Washington, specifically to the Polar SLEP facility under the attention of SK1 Mayra Barton at 1519 Alaskan Way S., Seattle, WA 98134. The solicitation falls under NAICS code 336611 for Ship Building and Repairing and PSC code 2090 for Miscellaneous Ship and Marine Equipment, reflecting the specialized marine infrastructure nature of this procurement.
