About this opportunity
The US Coast Guard intends to award a sole-source firm-fixed-price contract to YUKON FIRE PROTECTION SERVICES, INC. for fire alarm system repairs and annual inspection at Air Facility Cordova, Alaska, with a response deadline of July 23, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. Alaska time. The award will be made pursuant to FAR 12.102 on the basis that the vendor is the only responsible source capable of performing the required services.
The vendor holds testing documentation, system knowledge, and troubleshooting history from a prior FY 2025 purchase order (70Z04525PKODI0098) awarded competitively. That engagement identified multiple deficiencies, including alarm systems that failed to activate as required. Because YUKON FIRE possesses this institutional knowledge and can avoid duplicative diagnosis, no other vendor can efficiently address the deficiency corrections without significant delay and cost. The Coast Guard will consolidate the 2025 deficiency correction and 2026 annual certification and inspection into a single engagement to leverage travel cost savings in the remote Cordova location.
USCG Base Kodiak, Kodiak, Alaska, is the procuring entity. Performance occurs at Air Facility Cordova, Alaska. The requirement is classified as commercial item and service acquisition under FAR Part 12, NAICS 561621 (Security Systems Services), PSC J012 (Maint/Repair/Rebuild of Equipment—Fire Control Equipment). Interested organizations may submit capabilities and qualifications in writing by the deadline; such submissions will be evaluated solely to determine whether a viable competitive source exists.
Notice text
THIS IS A NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD A SOLE SOURCE CONTRACT AND IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE QUOTES.
The Government hereby submits a notice of intent to award a sole source firm fixed price award for the US Coast Guard Air Facility Cordova for 2025 Deficiency Correction, Replacing Failed Fire Alarm Control, and the 2026 annual inspection. The vendor will be YUKON FIRE PROTECTION SERVICES, INC., 5451 Laona DR, Anchorage, Alaska 99518-1087, UEI: JAWTGX9MCDJ6
This action is being awarded on a sole source basis pursuant to FAR 12.102, services required by the agency are available from only one responsible source and no other type of services will satisfy agency requirements. Subject vendor was awarded a purchase order via a competitive process in Fiscal Year 2025 (70Z04525PKODI0098). As a result of that purchase order and resultant inspection, multiple deficiencies were identified, including alarm systems not activating as required. Subject vendor has all testing documentation, knowledge of failed systems, and the capability of performing the repairs without requiring duplicative troubleshooting or diagnosis efforts. With the location being in a remote area of Alaska, the USCG will also leverage travel cost savings to have the same vendor perform the annual certification and inspection at the same time as the required repairs.
USCG Base Kodiak, Kodiak, Alaska, will be the procuring entity for this effort. Performance will be located at Cordova, AK. The Government intends to acquire commercial items and services using the provisions, clauses, and procedures prescribed in FAR Part 12. The NAICS Code for this requirement is 561621.
This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact no later than 23 Jul 2026, at 1:00 p.m., Alaska time. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government.
