About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Lifecycle Management Center Wright Patterson Air Force Base has issued a Limited / Sole Source Justification Notice for the Universal Armament Interface (UAI) program, aimed at continuing the development and sustainment of a standardized data interface across weapon-carrying platforms and munition systems. The notice justifies awarding sole-source contracts to four Original Equipment Manufacturers (Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and Raytheon) based on their unique proprietary knowledge and technical expertise, which are critical to the program's success. The contracts will have a five-year period of performance from October 2024 to October 2029, with a potential six-month extension, and an estimated total contract value of $85 million. The contractors will be responsible for developing certification tools, mission planning software, system integration laboratory tools, and providing system engineering and program management support. The government argues that competitive procurement would result in significant delays and increased costs, making the sole-source approach the most efficient path forward for advancing weapon system integration technology.
Notice text

UAI is a unique program that is focused on the development and sustainment of a truly universal armament interface that will apply across all weapon-carrying platforms and munition systems. The UAI program's focus is on standardizing data interfaces.
Awarded contract FA861525CB009 to unknown vendor for unknown amount on 2025-05-01.
