About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Lifecycle Management Center Wright Patterson Air Force Base has issued a Limited / Sole Source Justification Notice for the Universal Armament Interface (UAI) program, seeking to award sole-source contracts to four Original Equipment Manufacturers: Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and Raytheon. The $85 million contract aims to continue the development and sustainment of a standardized weapon system interface that can be applied across multiple platforms, with a planned five-year performance period from October 2024 to October 2029. The justification emphasizes that these four OEMs are the only sources possessing the necessary proprietary knowledge and technical expertise to advance the UAI specification, which focuses on standardizing data interfaces for weapon-carrying platforms and munition systems. The contracts will encompass various contract types including Cost-Plus-Fixed-Fee, Cost-Reimbursement, Time-and-Material, and potentially Firm-Fixed-Price, with the primary objective of streamlining weapon integration processes and reducing costs across Air Force and Navy platforms. The awarded contract (FA86615-25-C-B006) was issued on April 29, 2025, with the intent to develop certification tools, system engineering, and mission planning interfaces for advanced weapon technologies.
