About this opportunity

The Department of Agriculture Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (USDA APHIS) has issued a Special Notice for a single-source Ultracentrifuge Service Agreement. The justification document indicates that USDA APHIS requires preventative maintenance and repair services for Beckman Coulter Life Sciences ultracentrifuges owned and operated by the NVSL Foreign Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (FADDL) at the National Bio and Agro-defense Facility (NBAF) in Manhattan, Kansas. Beckman Coulter is identified as the only known source that can meet the safety requirements and provide the necessary expertise to service these specialized ultracentrifuges and prevent catastrophic failures.

The purpose of this Special Notice is to sole-source a one-year service agreement estimated at $73,116.75 to Beckman Coulter for these critical maintenance and repair services. The due date for this requirement is November 22, 2024. This is a simplified acquisition under FAR 13.106-1(b)(1) where competition is precluded due to the limited availability of qualified providers and the critical safety needs. Contractors interested in this opportunity must have the necessary expertise and capabilities to safely service and maintain the specialized Beckman Coulter ultracentrifuges at the FADDL laboratory.
