About this opportunity
The National Institute of Standards and Technology, an agency of the Department of Commerce, seeks a tunable low-noise short wavelength visible coherent light source system, with quotations due June 26, 2026. Amendment 0001, posted June 17, extends the original June 24 deadline by two business days and changes the applicable NAICS code from 334516 to 334511, which affects small business size standard eligibility (from 1,000 employees to 1,350 employees). The procurement is a Total Small Business set-aside.
Place of performance is Gaithersburg, Maryland. The system must generate 200 mW or more of coherent 780 nm light from 10 mW or less of 1560 nm input, operate continuously with linear output polarization (extinction ratio 17 or higher), output linewidth of 10 MHz or lower, fundamental rejection of 40 dB or higher, output power stability of 1% or lower rms over one hour, and PM fiber FC/APC termination for input and output. The system must fit a 19-inch rack or smaller and operate on standard 60 Hz 115 VAC power. One new unit must be delivered within sixteen weeks after receipt of order on FOB Destination terms. The 1560 nm seed source will be narrow-linewidth (less than 50 kHz), implementable as an external-cavity diode laser, single-frequency fiber laser, or whispering-gallery mode laser. NIST's cooling preference is forced-air cooling rather than liquid cooling. The Government reserves the right to test output power, output linewidth, and output polarization extinction ratio. Payment is due within 30 days of receipt and acceptance of invoice at 100% upon installation and acceptance. The contractor shall warrant the entire system for one year after acceptance. The NAICS code is 334511, Search, Detection, Navigation, Guidance, Aeronautical, and Nautical System and Instrument Manufacturing; PSC is 6640, Laboratory Equipment and Supplies.
