About this opportunity
The Defense Health Agency Contracting Activity (DHACA), Healthcare Contracting Division - West, has published a Special Notice titled "Trophon device workshop" regarding their intent to sole source a contract for Nanosonics training packages. The notice pertains to training services for government-owned Nanosonic Trophon2 devices located at Naval Medical Center Yokosuka. This procurement falls under NAICS code 811210 for Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance, with a business size standard of $34,000,000. The agency intends to award a firm fixed price contract in accordance with FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i), citing that only one source is available to meet the government's needs. The contracting opportunity was posted on July 3, 2025, with responses due by July 8, 2025.
The primary purpose of this Special Notice is to inform potential contractors of the government's intent to sole source with Nanosonics, Inc. due to the proprietary nature of the Trophon2 medical devices and associated software. The comprehensive training package includes a device workshop for up to three authorized Clinical Engineering BioMed technical users, proprietary service and manufacturing software license, technical documentation, and a loaner Trophon2 device for training purposes. Interested vendors must submit a four-page capability statement electronically to Shannon La Com by the July 8, 2025 deadline, with no telephone requests or offers accepted. The agency will consider all submissions to potentially compete the procurement, though Nanosonics is currently identified as the sole source due to being the only company with authorized technicians and repair parts. Contractors must demonstrate capability in medical equipment maintenance and repair services to be considered for this opportunity.
