About this opportunity
The US Army Contracting Command-Redstone Services & IT Solution Branch has issued a Special Notice seeking market research information for the procurement of a Torque Calibration System. This notice represents the Army's effort to identify potential sources capable of providing a replacement for an aging Lebow torque calibrator at the Army Test, Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment Activity (USATA) located at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama. The system must have a maximum measurement capability of 50,000 lbf-in and include sophisticated data acquisition software for generating calibration reports. The procurement falls under NAICS code 334515 for Instrument Manufacturing for Measuring and Testing Electricity and Electrical Signals. The notice was posted on June 24, 2025, by the Department of the Army Materiel Command Contracting Command Redstone Arsenal.
The primary objective of this Special Notice is to conduct market research to support the life-cycle replacement of critical torque calibration equipment used by USATA. Interested contractors must respond by July 8, 2025, and demonstrate their capability to provide a system that meets stringent technical specifications including automated servo-controlled hydraulic operation, custom calibration adapters for Lebow model 2351-102 36K lb-in torque cells, and a NIST traceable 50K lbf-in transfer standard torque cell. The system must achieve an uncertainty of 0.1% or better at 95% confidence level and perform calibrations in both clockwise compression and counterclockwise tension modes. Successful vendors must also provide on-site installation and personnel training services. This market research initiative will help the Army identify qualified sources before proceeding with the formal procurement process for this specialized measurement and testing equipment.
