About this opportunity
The National Institutes of Health Office of Logistics and Acquisition Operations intends to award a non-competitive contract to CELLINK LLC for a Cellink BIO X Advanced Multi-Material 3D Bioprinting System, with responses due by August 24, 2026 at 9:00 AM Eastern time. This is a sole-source procurement under FAR Part 13 Simplified Acquisition Procedures with a contract value not exceeding $350,000.
The Muthuswamy Laboratory at NIH requires the 3D bioprinting platform to support ongoing NIH-funded cancer biology and organoid research. The system must reproducibly fabricate multicellular tissue constructs using multiple bioinks and biomaterials, addressing current limitations in manual tissue model preparation that introduce variability in construct geometry, cell distribution, and extracellular matrix composition. The platform must integrate with existing cell culture, microscopy, and molecular analysis workflows to enable standardized production of physiologically relevant in vitro models.
Place of performance is at NIH. Work will support the laboratory's investigation of mechanisms for tumor initiation, progression, and therapeutic response using advanced three-dimensional culture systems, organoid models, and engineered tissue microenvironments.
Interested parties must submit technical and cost-price proposals, period of performance, UEI, TIN, and business size certification to Mr. Vishnuvajjala Hanumanth Rao at vishnuh@mail.nih.gov. All respondents must maintain active registration in SAM. The solicitation number is 75N98026Q01018, classified under NAICS 541714 and PSC 6640.

THE LABORATORY INVESTIGATES MECHANISMS FO TUMORS INITIATIONS PROGRESSION AND THERAPEUTIC RESPONSE USING ADVANCED THREE DIMENSIONAL(3d) CULTURE SYSTEMS ORGANID MODELS AND ENGINEERED TISSUE MICRONMENTS . CURRENT RESEARCH FOCUESES ON UNDERSTANDING INTERACTIONS BETWEEN TUMORS CELLS AND THERI SURROUNDING STROMAL AND EXTRACULLULAR MATRIX ENVIRONMENTS THAT INFLUENCE CANCER DEVELOPMENT AND TREATMENT RESPONSE. EXISTING LABORATORY METHODS FOR GENERATING 3D TISSUEMODELS RELYON MANUAL PREPRATION TECHNIQUES THAT INTRODUCE VARIABILITY IN CONSTRUCT GEOMETRY, CELL DISTRUBUTION, AND EXTRACELLULAR MATRIX COMPOSITION. THESE LIMITATIONS REDUCE EXPERIMENTAL REPRODUCIBILITY AND RESTRICT THE COMPLEXITY OF TISSUE MODELS THAT CAN BE GENERATED. TO SUPPORT ONGOING NIH-FUNDED RESEARCH, THEMUTHUSWAMY LABORATORY REQUIRES A HIGH-PRECISION 3DE BIOPRINTING PLATFORM CAPABLE OF REPRODUCIBLY FABRICATING MULTICELLULAR TISSUE CONSTRUCTS USING A VARIETY OF BIOMARKS AND BIOMATERIALS. THE SYSTEM MUST INTEGRATE WITH EXISTING CELL CULTURE, MICROSCOPY, AND DOWNSTREAM MOLECULAR ANALYSIS WORKFLOWS WHILE ENABLING STANDARDIZED PRODUCTION OF PHYSIOLOGICALLY RELEVENT INVITRO MODELS.
