About this opportunity

The Biological and Emerging Infections Research Resources Program (BEI-RRP) is seeking to procure the operation of a central repository for quality-assured organisms, reagents, tools, services, and information related to the research portfolio and priorities of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. Interested businesses must submit a tailored capability statement not exceeding seven pages by November 9, 2021 describing their experience operating a biological resource repository, quality management systems, facilities, equipment, and information management systems to support the program. The anticipated period of performance is a one-year base period plus six one-year options starting on or about March 1, 2023, with a total level of effort of 54.75 full-time equivalents per year.

There is no set-aside designation for this procurement. The repository is expected to serve approximately 12,000 registered users and include around 17,000 unique items. The current contractor is American Type Culture Collection. The anticipated value is comparable to the current contract value of $33.6M for the five-year base period plus five one-year options of the Microbiology and Infectious Diseases Biological Resource Repository contract number HHSN272201600013C awarded in 2016.

Notice text

The BEI-RRP is a re-competition of the current Microbiology and Infectious Diseases Biological Resource Repository (MID-BRR), contract # HHSN272201600013C, which was awarded in 2016 to American Type Culture Collection (ATCC).

The BEI-RRP will continue to serve as a vital central repository for quality-assured organisms, reagents, tools, services, and information related to the NIAID research portfolio and priorities in infectious disease, including Category A, B, and C priority pathogens, emerging infectious diseases; HIV/AIDS; and non-pathogenic microbes. These priorities may change as scientific research and public health needs shift. The program is expected to serve approximately 12,000 registered users from the U.S. and other countries, and will include approximately 17,000 unique items in the public BEI-RRP catalog.
