About this opportunity

The Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Air Force Sustainment Center is seeking a contractor to provide comprehensive repair and overhaul services for T-38 Displacement Gyroscopes (NSN 6615-01-131-5317). The contractor must perform disassembly, analysis, troubleshooting, repair, testing, alignment, calibration, and return-to-service activities to restore gyroscopes to original equipment manufacturer specifications and form, fit, and function. Key contract requirements include responsibility for all component replacements that fail to meet inspection standards, including parts damaged by catastrophic failure, fatigue failure, or normal deterioration, with repaired items requiring validation through special test equipment. The government will use Lowest Price Technically Acceptable (LPTA) source selection procedures for award evaluation. The pre-solicitation notice was posted on January 13, 2026, with the formal solicitation (FA8117-26-R-0007) scheduled for release on January 29, 2026, and a response deadline of January 28, 2026.

This contract opportunity is designated as a Total Small Business set-aside, restricting eligibility to small business concerns. The base year includes 20 repair/overhaul line items and 60 repair items, with additional Contract Line Item Numbers for no-fault-found repairs, beyond-economic-repair classifications, and over-and-above services across base and option year periods. No incumbent contractor or specific award value is identified in the pre-solicitation notice. The work falls under NAICS code 336413 (Other Aircraft Parts and Auxiliary Equipment Manufacturing) and PSC code J066 (Maintenance/Repair/Rebuild of Equipment—Instruments and Laboratory Equipment), indicating the technical nature of the repair services required for precision aviation instrumentation.
