About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 16 is seeking to procure specialized medical equipment for the Michael E. DeBakey Medical Center, specifically two AMSCO 250LS Small Steam Sterilizers with advanced technological features and five electric generators with specific technical specifications. The procurement is structured as a Sources Sought Notice (RFI) to conduct market research and identify potential suppliers for these critical medical devices. The anticipated contract will be a single award, firm fixed-price contract with a base year and four one-year option periods, not exceeding five total years. Responses to the RFI are due by March 18, 2025, at 1:00 PM Central Time, and vendors must submit detailed information about their capabilities, service support, maintenance schedules, projected costs, and availability under existing government-wide contracts. Vendors are required to provide an Authorized Distribution Letter from the original equipment manufacturer, with the VA explicitly stating they will not accept grey market items.

The procurement is specifically set aside for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses under NAICS code 334516, with a size standard of 1,000 employees. The medical center is seeking to procure two 20" x 20" x 38" steam sterilizers with manual sliding doors, advanced control systems, and specific warranty requirements, along with three 150 KW and two 100 KW electric generators with precise technical specifications including high-quality vapor output and advanced control features. If no responses are received from authorized distributors, the VA may potentially sole-source the procurement directly to the manufacturer. The specific procurement involves sophisticated medical and power generation equipment with detailed technical requirements, suggesting a complex and specialized acquisition process. While no specific budget range is disclosed, the complexity and specificity of the equipment indicate a potentially significant investment in medical infrastructure for the Veterans Health Administration.
