About this opportunity

Tobyhanna Army Depot is issuing a Request for Information on May 7, 2026, to identify commercial sources capable of manufacturing and supplying stator cores for small brushless DC motors used in small Unmanned Aircraft Systems. The government seeks vendors with scalable, high-volume production capabilities of up to 40,000 units per month.

Stator cores must be manufactured as stacked and bonded laminations for outrunner brushless DC motor design, with stator diameter of 22mm to 35mm, stator height of 6mm to 20mm, 12 coil node configuration, and epoxy powder coat insulation applied to coil nodes to prevent grounding and ensure reliability under standard sUAS operational conditions. All materials must comply with foreign sourcing restrictions, excluding components sourced from the People's Republic of China, the Russian Federation, the Islamic Republic of Iran, or the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Contractors must enforce these sourcing restrictions throughout their entire lower-tier supply chain and subcontractors.

This RFI is for informational and market research purposes only and does not constitute a solicitation or commitment to award a contract. Responses are strictly voluntary with no funds available for preparation costs. Interested vendors must submit capability statements (maximum ten 8.5 x 11-inch pages, 10-point font minimum) electronically to corey.d.katsak.civ@army.mil and steven.wiltz.civ@army.mil no later than 12:00 p.m. EDT on May 7, 2026, with synopsis number SC050726 referenced in the subject line. Proprietary information will be protected from external release. NAICS code is 335312 (Motor and Generator Manufacturing).
