About this opportunity
The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), part of the National Institutes of Health, intends to procure TURBO293 Transfection Reagents through a sole source negotiation with SPEED BioSystems, LLC. The procurement involves 78 units of 20ML TURBO293 Transfection Reagent (Catalog # PXX1002) to be delivered to the Vaccine Research Center in Bethesda, Maryland. NIAID justifies the sole source approach based on continuity protocols and compatibility requirements, as SPEED BioSystems is identified as the sole owner, developer, and seller of these specific reagents currently utilized by the agency. Interested vendors who believe they can meet the government's requirements may submit capabilities statements including past performance documentation by September 15, 2025. The government will evaluate such submissions solely to determine whether to conduct the procurement on a competitive basis, though the final decision remains at the government's discretion.
This procurement does not utilize any set-aside designations and is classified under NAICS code 325414 for Biological Product Manufacturing with a size standard of 1,250 employees. SPEED BioSystems, LLC, located in Gaithersburg, Maryland, qualifies as a small business and appears to be the incumbent provider of these transfection reagents to NIAID. While the notice does not specify the total contract value, the procurement involves a substantial quantity of 78 units of the specialized biological reagent. The government intends to award a purchase order following the conclusion of this notice period, with the goods to be shipped FOB destination to the Vaccine Research Center. The procurement falls under PSC category 6505 for Drugs and Biologicals, reflecting the specialized nature of these laboratory reagents used in vaccine research applications.
