About this opportunity
The National Park Service's Pacific West Region is conducting market research to identify contractors capable of rehabilitating a 1984, 42-foot Munson Landing Craft essential to operations at Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area. The procurement involves comprehensive vessel rehabilitation including transportation to and from a marine facility, mechanical and propulsion system evaluation and repairs, navigation and pilot house system upgrades, and training documentation to ensure Coast Guard compliance and operational readiness. Contractors must demonstrate capability to inspect and repair Caterpillar 3208 Marine Diesel Engines, Arneson Drive propulsion systems, damaged propellers, and various mechanical components while replacing engines with compatible alternatives that work with existing transmission systems. The project also requires installation of antifreeze winterization valves, replacement of compromised gaskets and seals, and restoration of all damaged hardware in the engine compartment. Responses to this sources sought notice are due by August 20, 2025, with all costs for providing information being the contractor's responsibility.
This pre-solicitation notice does not designate any set-aside requirements, making it open to all qualified contractors under NAICS code 336611 for Ship Building and Repairing. The vessel requiring rehabilitation is located at 1008 Crest Drive, Coulee Dam, Washington, and contractors will need to transport it to their own controlled shop environment for evaluation and repairs. No specific budget range, award values, or contract timeline details are provided in this market research phase, though the scope indicates this is a single vessel rehabilitation project requiring specialized marine repair capabilities. The notice does not identify any incumbent contractors or previous service providers for this particular vessel. Contractors responding must demonstrate expertise in marine diesel engines, propulsion systems, and Coast Guard regulatory compliance to be considered for the potential upcoming solicitation.
