About this opportunity
Air Force Test Center at Edwards Air Force Base, California intends to sole-source and award a purchase order for a Delta H Defender Aerospace Steel Dual Chamber Furnace (Model DEF-DC-RH-241236/2000-RH-241636/2000-SR) on a Total Small Business set-aside basis, with sources sought responses due August 7, 2026. The statutory authority for the brand-name restriction is 41 U.S.C. 1901. The 412 Maintenance Squadron, Maintenance Flight requires this specific furnace model to ensure interoperability with the existing Eurotherm Nanodac recorder/controller already deployed on similar equipment within the section, eliminating redundant calibration equipment and training costs.
The furnace supports new alloy processing requirements for pre- and post-heat treatment following welding operations and enables use of new steel alloys in aircraft and engine components. Each dual-chamber system must include a programmable Eurotherm dual recorder/controller operating in set-point or programmable modes, high-limit safety interlocks, roll-away oil quench tank with 16-inch high part capacity, and oxidation-resistant lining with heavy-duty casters. The upper chamber features a certified Temperature Uniformity Survey work volume of 24 inches wide by 12 inches high by 36 inches deep, radiant heat capability to 2000 degrees Fahrenheit, Class 3 uniformity (15 to 1,200–2,000 degrees Fahrenheit), and gas-tight chamber with flow control and alarm. The lower chamber specifies certified TUS work volume of 24 inches wide by 16 inches high by 36 inches deep with equivalent thermal and safety features. Delivery is expected within 10–12 weeks after receipt of order.

1. INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE (BRAND NAME)
The Air Force Test Center, Services Contracting Branch (AFTC/PZIOB) at Edwards AFB, CA, intends to solicit and award a purchase order on a brand-name restricted basis for a Delta H Defender Aerospace Steel Dual Chamber Furnace (Model: DEF-DC-RH-241236/2000-RH-241636/2000-SR). The statutory authority permitting this restriction is RFO 12.201-1, 41 U.S.C. 1901, restricting competition.
The 412 MXS/MXMF requires this specific brand and model to ensure seamless interoperability with existing test, calibration, and control systems (specifically the Eurotherm Nanodac recorder/controller) already in use on similar equipment within the section, thereby eliminating the need for redundant specialized calibration equipment and additional training.
2. DESCRIPTION OF REQUIREMENT
The 412 MXS/MXMF has a need for a dual chamber, high-temperature inert atmosphere furnace based on the addition of new alloys requiring pre- and post-heat treatment after welding, and the use of new steel alloys in aircraft and engine components. This furnace must include a programmable Eurotherm dual recorder/controller for independent program operations (set point or programmable modes), high limit safety interlocks, roll-away oil quench tank (16" high part capacity), and oxidation resistant lining with heavy duty casters.
Period of Performance / Delivery: 10-12 Weeks ARO
