About this opportunity
The U.S. AbilityOne Commission, on behalf of the National Industries for the Blind, is pursuing a sources-sought partnership with U.S. commercial manufacturers of labeling equipment and shipping scales, with responses due June 24, 2026. This is not a competitive procurement but a co-brand agreement opportunity to expand the AbilityOne Procurement List product offering and create employment for people who are blind or severely disabled.
Manufacturers—not distributors or component-part suppliers—must offer handheld portable rechargeable label printers compatible with cassette labels, industrial handheld label printers compatible with nylon and vinyl cassette labels, desktop label printers compatible with roll labels, and shipping scales with 25-pound capacity. Equipment must support standalone operation with QWERTY keyboard or laptop connectivity, dual AC/rechargeable lithium-ion battery power, thermal printing, and software for customizing address, barcode, and name-badge labels with common symbols and shortcuts. All products must meet or exceed FAR and federal government standards, industry performance specifications for construction and reliability, and carry current certifications and Material Safety Data sheets where required. Successful partners will execute a co-brand agreement placing their products on the AbilityOne Procurement List under the registered brands of both the manufacturer and the nonprofit agency.

Notice text
On behalf of the U.S. AbilityOne Commission (Commission), the independent federal agency that administers the AbilityOne Program, National Industries for the Blind (NIB), a designated central nonprofit agency, is pursuing potential partnerships with U.S. commercial manufacturers (note: no distributors; manufacturers of component parts only) to help sustain and expand the product offering of labeling equipment, including label printers and a shipping scale, for the purpose of providing employment for people who are blind or severely disabled.
If successful, the result will be a co-brand agreement between the manufacturer and its registered brands and the AbilityOne Program nonprofit agency for products that are on the AbilityOne Procurement List (PL), thus sustaining and creating jobs for people who are blind or severely disabled.
