About this opportunity
The Missile Defense Agency (MDA) has issued a Special Notice for a noncompetitive Firm-Fixed-Price contract awarded to Raytheon Technologies in Tucson, Arizona. The contract has a total value of $1,000,000,000 and involves the procurement and delivery of up to 55 SM-3 Block IB All-Up Rounds (AURs). These missile systems will be manufactured, assembled, and tested according to specific SM-3 Block IB specifications. The work will be performed in Tucson, Arizona, and Huntsville, Alabama, with an expected completion date of March 31, 2031. Fiscal 2024 and 2025 procurement funds totaling $500,000,000 will be obligated at the time of award.
The purpose of this Special Notice is to support the Aegis-Based Defense Program by procuring specialized missile systems that meet Warfighter and Combatant Commander requirements. Raytheon Technologies was selected as the sole-source contractor due to its unique qualifications and extensive history in SM-3 missile design, development, testing, and production. The contract will utilize both fixed-price and cost-reimbursement mechanisms, covering multiple missile lots including U.S. Government and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) quantities. Market research conducted by the MDA confirmed that no other companies can meet the technical and manufacturing requirements for these missile systems. The contract period runs from May 16, 2025, through March 31, 2031, with work primarily concentrated in Arizona and Alabama. Contractors should note the tight timeline, with the opportunity posted on June 5, 2025, and due date of June 6, 2025.
