About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration, Veterans Integrated Service Network 16, is conducting market research through a Request for Information and Sources Sought notice for SIR-Spheres Y-90 microspheres, with responses due by 4:00 PM CST on October 26, 2026. This is not a formal solicitation; the VA is defining procurement strategy, which may result in a set-aside, sole-source, or unrestricted award. No set-aside is anticipated at this stage.
The equipment will support intra-arterial radiation therapy at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center's Interventional Radiology Department in Houston, Texas. The VA currently depends solely on Theraspheres for Y-90 microspheres; this procurement seeks to mitigate supply-chain risk by establishing a second vendor relationship, reducing exposure to product recalls, backorders, and associated treatment delays.
Deliverables include SIR-Spheres Y-90 resin microspheres, Siros delivery dome, Siros D-vial prep set, Siros delivery set, syringe shield, Nalgene acrylic waste container with polyethylene bottle, user manuals, and reference guides. Performance must be completed within six months of receiving a delivery task order during clinical hours (Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., excluding weekends and federal holidays). A 12-month fully covered warranty is required from the date of acceptance. The contract will be structured as Base plus 4 option years.
Respondents must demonstrate authorized distributor status with access to OEM parts, certify manufacturing location and small-business status (including Non-Manufacturer Rule compliance for small businesses), and confirm availability under government-wide contracts such as GWAC, GSA Schedule, IDIQ, or BPA. The applicable NAICS code is 334517 (medical device manufacturing), with a small-business size standard of 1,200 employees. Small Business Concerns are encouraged to submit estimated market-research pricing. Responses must be submitted to bryant.fields@va.gov in Microsoft Word format with the subject line "SIR-SPHERES NO SOLICITATION EXISTS AT THIS TIME."
