About this opportunity
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, under the Department of Health and Human Services, is seeking a service and maintenance agreement for Agilent Technologies Inc. analytical instruments used by the Division of Laboratory Sciences. The procurement covers maintenance and repair services for over 100 Agilent analytical systems, including mass spectrometers, gas chromatographs, liquid chromatographs, nitrogen generators, pumps, and autosamplers. Key contract requirements include maintaining instrument uptime at 95% or greater, providing factory-certified service engineers, delivering four-hour acknowledgment of service requests with 24-hour technical support availability, performing up to two annual preventative maintenance visits, ensuring OEM parts availability, and facilitating factory-directed software updates. The government intends to award this as a sole-source contract under FAR 13.106-1(b) and 41 U.S.C. 3304(a)(1), based on Agilent's unique capability to meet the specialized technical requirements. The pre-solicitation notice was posted on January 14, 2026, with a response deadline of January 23, 2026, and interested parties should direct inquiries to the contract specialist at ehu0@cdc.gov.
This procurement carries no set-aside designation and is intended as a sole-source award to Agilent Technologies, Inc., with market research determining that no alternative vendors can adequately service Agilent instruments or provide the required rapid response capabilities. The contract will be procured through the Federal Supply Schedule (GSA Contract GS-07F-0564X) and is anticipated to be structured as a fixed-price arrangement. The performance period extends from April 1, 2026, through March 31, 2031, comprising one base period and four option periods spanning five years of service. Comprehensive maintenance services will include parts, labor, travel, software updates, and on-site repairs, with service engineers required to comply with CDC laboratory safety protocols. The contract requires monthly reporting, quarterly conference calls, and annual meetings focused on service performance and user training opportunities, with the government retaining the right to modify the equipment list on a quarterly basis.
