About this opportunity

The USDA Agricultural Marketing Service is soliciting bids for dried fruit products to support domestic food assistance programs, specifically the National School Lunch Program and other federal nutrition initiatives. The procurement seeks two distinct products: dried sweet cherries packaged in 8/2-lb configurations and whole dates in 24/1-lb packages, both from crop years 2024-2025. Contractors must meet AMS vendor qualification requirements established under FAR Subpart 9.2 and submit bids exclusively through the Web-Based Supply Chain Management System (WBSCM) at https://portal.wbscm.usda.gov/publicprocurement. All products must comply with the Agricultural Acquisition Regulation requirement that commodities be grown, processed, and prepared exclusively in the United States. The solicitation operates on a firm-fixed-price contract structure with bids due June 25, 2025, at 1:00 PM Central Time, and contract awards expected by July 3, 2025.

This procurement includes significant small business set-asides, with 100% of the dried cherry quantity reserved for small businesses and 50% of the dates quantity similarly designated. The total solicitation encompasses 45,288 cases, comprising 36,288 cases of dried sweet cherries and 9,000 cases of whole dates, representing a substantial volume procurement. Deliveries are scheduled between August and December 2025 to multiple destinations across the United States, including California, Florida, Georgia, Ohio, Kentucky, and offshore locations such as Puerto Rico, all on an FOB origin basis. New or existing contractors may face probationary limitations restricting initial awards to 10 truckloads per product, with full contractor status contingent upon successful delivery of at least five truckloads. The solicitation does not identify any current incumbents or specific contract values, focusing instead on the competitive bidding process for qualified vendors.
