About this opportunity
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), a civilian agency within the Department of Commerce, has issued a Special Notice for the renewal of a Service Contract for a large geometry (LG) Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (SIMS) instrument. This is a sole source requirement as Cameca Instruments Inc., the original equipment manufacturer (OEM), holds proprietary rights to the instrument's design, schematics, and software, and is the only provider capable of maintaining the original operating specifications.
The purpose of this Special Notice is to inform interested parties of NIST's intent to negotiate a sole source contract with Cameca Instruments Inc. for the 12-month service contract, with an option to renew for an additional year. The Special Notice is not a request for competitive quotations, but interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement by emailing randy.schroyer@nist.gov by 5:00 PM EST on August 14, 2024. The government will consider the responses received to determine if a competitive procurement should be conducted in the future, but a determination to not compete this requirement is solely at the discretion of the government.

No solicitation package will be issued.
This notice is not a request for competitive quotations; however, interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement.
