About this opportunity

The Department of the Army Medical Command issued Amendment 0001 to solicitation W81K00-26-Q-A234 on August 5, 2026, publishing official government responses to contractor inquiries regarding scleral contact lens procurement for Brooke Army Medical Center, with an unchanged closing date of August 7, 2026.

The procurement covers customized scleral contact lenses in two diameter ranges (16–17 mm and 18–19 mm) for vision rehabilitation of patients with irregular corneas, corneal transplants, and corneal disease. Products must be FDA-cleared gas-permeable medical devices meeting salient characteristics and performance requirements. The government accepts equivalent products from multiple manufacturers, including alternatives to BostonSight SmartSight technology and Hydra-PEG coatings, provided they meet specified standards. Offerors may submit equivalent Higher Order Aberration optic modifications or features comparable to BostonSight SmartSight. Contractor personnel are not required to provide on-site clinical evaluation services; the government's assigned optometrist conducts patient evaluations and retains final prescription responsibility. Technical consultation may be provided remotely through manufacturer support. Delivery must occur within one week of complete prescription receipt to Brooke Army Medical Center only, with two-day expedited shipping applicable to specifically designated orders. The previous incumbent was Boston Foundation for Sight, Inc., under Purchase Order W81K00-25-P-A149. Offerors must acknowledge receipt of this amendment prior to the closing date using one of three specified methods. All other terms and conditions remain unchanged.
