Update #1 ·

The work consists of wire saw cutting and core drilling concrete and embedded items for the new maintenance closure system in the upstream and downstream approaches to the 110-ft. x 600-ft. primary land lock chamber. The wire sawing will be from the top of the land and middle wall monoliths to the underwater poiree and boule dam sills at the elevations indicated. Portions of this work will occur underwater. Core drilling, wire sawing, line drilling, or other precision cutting methods shall be utilized for the concrete cutting. Steel corner protection and wall armor will also be cut at locations of the proposed concrete wire sawing. The contractor is responsible to cut concrete free as indicated and install a temporary Government-supplied stability system. The Government will remove the concrete sections at a later date.

Construction will occur in close proximity to waterway traffic in the land lock chamber. All work shall be performed in a manner that will not interfere with the duties of project personnel or lock operation. Limited, minor lock closures will be accommodated. The lock chambers at Montgomery L/D are currently operated 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The work is located at the Montgomery Locks and Dam, 100 Montgomery Dam Road, Monaca, PA 15061-2221.

The estimated cost of the proposed work is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000.
