About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 17 is seeking proposals to provide regulated medical waste removal services for the South Texas Veterans Health Care System. The contractor shall provide all personnel, equipment, transportation, and disposal required to collect, treat, transport and dispose of regulated medical waste, sharps containers, and pharmaceutical waste from multiple VA medical centers and clinics in the region. Proposals will be evaluated on a best value basis considering technical approach, past performance, and price. The deadline for responses is 4:00 PM CST on November 25, 2022.
This requirement has a service-disabled veteran-owned small business set-aside designation with a NAICS code of 562112. The estimated annual quantities of waste to be removed range from 30,000 to 50,000 pounds per facility. Services shall be provided at the Audie L. Murphy Memorial Veterans Hospital and various associated outpatient clinics located in South Texas. Pricing shall be firm-fixed price per pound of waste removed with a performance period of one base year plus four one-year option periods beginning January 2023.

The contractor will provide a full range of collection, disposal and recycling of regulated medical and sharp waste. The Contractor shall provide all personnel, equipment, tools, materials, vehicles, supervision, other items and services necessary to perform Regulated Medical Waste Removal, Sharps Container Treatment/Recycling, and Final Disposal for the South Texas Veterans Health Care System (STVHCS). This requirement is based on the needs of the government and can be modified during the performance period (Base Year + Option Years) to comply with the current conditions of the healthcare system and its associated facilities outlined within the PWS.
