About this opportunity
The U.S. Department of Agriculture Agricultural Research Service is conducting market research for a robotic multipurpose autosampler and olfactory detection port; responses are due by August 27, 2026. This is a sources-sought notice only and does not constitute a solicitation or commitment to award. The government seeks one unit fully compatible with existing Agilent 7890B/5977A GC-MS instrumentation and ChemStation software integration. Required capabilities include automated liquid injection (2ml vials) and headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME) injection support (10ml and 20ml vials), HS-SPME derivatization capability, an agitator with temperature control, and a heated nose cone with adjustable mount. The system must include software that processes and visualizes olfactory, chromatographic, and mass spectral data in a single platform, enabling operators to generate real-time olfactory event markers, odor intensity ratings, and spoken odor quality descriptions during gas chromatography runs. Responses should indicate business size and status under the applicable NAICS code (334516, Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing) and identify whether offered products are domestically available end-products. The government is evaluating acquisition method and set-aside eligibility based on vendor responses.
