About this opportunity
The U.S. Coast Guard has issued a Request for Information (RFI) seeking industry input on potential solutions for modernizing or replacing their existing RF matrix control system, known as the MCU-8 system. This Special Notice is published by the Department of Homeland Security's U.S. Coast Guard through their C5I Service Center and represents an information-gathering initiative rather than a formal procurement solicitation. The Coast Guard is looking to understand available market solutions that could replace their legacy RF Matrix Control Unit, which currently manages RF switches through keypad entry and displays matrix status via video. The RFI specifically focuses on modern control software platforms, hardware interfaces, networked control capabilities, automation features, and scalability options for remotely controlling and monitoring RF switches.
The primary purpose of this RFI is to gather comprehensive industry insights to inform future procurement planning, with no intention to award contracts based on the responses received. Interested vendors must submit their responses by October 26, 2025, at 1400 EST electronically to the designated Coast Guard contact. Responses are limited to five pages in PDF format and must include company details, proposed solution specifications, rough order of magnitude cost estimates, technical specifications, implementation considerations, and relevant references. No specific eligibility criteria are mentioned, allowing any qualified vendors with relevant capabilities to participate. The accompanying documentation reveals the Coast Guard currently operates Delta Electronics MCU-8 systems that require modernization, and the agency is exploring both repair/upgrade options and complete replacement solutions to enhance their RF matrix control capabilities.
