About this opportunity
The US Air Force Academy is conducting market research through a request for information (RFI) due May 28, 2026, for a commercial liquid chromatography system to replace existing equipment, with mandatory native compatibility to the laboratory's Sciex QTRAP 5500 mass spectrometer. This is sources-sought activity only; no quotes are being solicited and no procurement commitment exists. No set-aside applies.
The system must achieve operational continuity while avoiding acquisition of new mass spectrometers and retraining or revalidation of chemical analysis methods. The required configuration includes a dual-plunger pump rated to 15,200 PSI with variable flow rate settings, degassing unit, autosampler capable of handling injection volumes from 0.1 microliters to 50 microliters with compatibility for sample vials and microtiter plates, and column oven maintaining temperatures from 10 degrees Celsius below ambient to 100 degrees Celsius with 0.5-percent accuracy. The system must include a solvent selection kit with two dual solvent selection valves, a two-position column switching kit with six-port valves and valve drive attachment, high-pressure conversion kit, PFAS kit with covered installation labor, Sciex imaged computer with appropriate specifications, Sciex OS software license, and full system training delivered by a Sciex Applications Support Scientist. All necessary installation components—tubing, cables, solvent bottles, reservoir tray—and covered installation and connection labor are included. Responses should provide company information, UEI and CAGE code, socio-economic status under NAICS 334516, product description confirming native Sciex compatibility without third-party bridging software, relevant manufacturer part numbers, country of origin, delivery lead-time, and estimated price.
Notice text
This is a Sources Sought Notice / Request for Information (RFI) only. This notice is issued solely for information and planning purposes it does not constitute a Request for Quote (RFQ), Request for Proposal (RFP), or a promise to issue a solicitation in the future. This request for information does not commit the Government to contract for any supply or service whatsoever. Further, the Government is not at this time seeking quotes and will not accept unsolicited quotes.
BACKGROUND AND REQUIREMENT
The US Air Force Academy has a requirement for a Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) Liquid Chromatography System to replace existing equipment. To maintain operational continuity, avoid the purchase of new mass spectrometers, and prevent the need for extensive staff retraining and revalidation of chemical analysis methods, the new liquid chromatography system must be fully and natively compatible with the laboratory's existing Sciex QTRAP 5500 Mass Spectrometer. Salient characteristics are included in the attached.
CAPABILITY STATEMENT / REQUESTED INFORMATION
Interested vendors who can provide a liquid chromatography system meeting the compatibility requirements outlined above and attached are requested to submit a brief capability statement. Responses should include the following information:
- Company Information: Company Name, Address, Point of Contact (Name, Title, Email, Phone Number).
- Unique Entity ID (UEI) and CAGE Code.
- Socio-economic Status: Identify your business size and socio-economic status under NAICS 334516.
- Product Information/Capabilities: Briefly describe the proposed liquid chromatography system(s) you offer and confirm its native compatibility with the Sciex QTRAP 5500 mass spectrometer without the use of third-party bridging software. Include relevant manufacturer part numbers and country of origin if applicable. Also include your lead-time for delivery and estimated price. (Note: You will not be held to this price; it is for market research purposes only.)
- State whether you are the manufacturer or authorized reseller of the product(s).
