About this opportunity
Brookhaven Science Associates (BSA), operating Brookhaven National Laboratory under a Department of Energy (DOE) contract, is conducting a Request for Information (RFI) for a Local Electrode Atom Probe (LEAP) instrument for the Center for Nanophase Materials Sciences at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The RFI is part of the DOE's Nanoscale Science Research Center Recapitalization Project and seeks to gather information from potential suppliers about their capabilities to meet specific technical requirements for an advanced scientific instrument. Interested companies are asked to submit a statement of capabilities, indicate their interest in bidding, and provide answers to specific questions outlined in the attached document. The submission deadline is February 6, 2025, at 2:00 PM Eastern Time, with electronic submissions preferred via email to lgonzales@bnl.gov. Respondents must include "BSA RFI-459225" in the email subject line and provide comprehensive details about their ability to meet the instrument's technical specifications.
This RFI is not a formal solicitation and carries no commitment from the U.S. Government to procure services or reimburse response costs. The opportunity is classified under NAICS category 334516 for Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing and PSC category 6640 for Laboratory Equipment and Supplies. There are no specific set-aside designations for this opportunity, meaning it is open to all qualified vendors. The RFI seeks a sophisticated scientific instrument with specific technical requirements, including an advanced reflection ion-optic design, 258 nm laser pulsing technology, and multiple vacuum chambers with precise pressure specifications. While no specific award value is mentioned, the complexity of the instrument suggests a potentially significant procurement for advanced scientific research infrastructure.
