About this opportunity
The Department of the Navy Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division seeks market research on potential sources capable of providing persistent corrosion preventative compounds, with responses due August 29. This is a Request for Information only; no binding procurement action or contract award is committed at this stage.
Place of performance is Westlake, Maryland. The required product is a non-permanent coating in the form of greases, lubricants, oils, or waxes that provides continuous corrosion prevention for at least two years when exposed to ISO 12944 - C5 (very harsh) marine environments without touch-up or reapplication. The material must maintain shelf stability for a minimum of two years at storage temperatures of 20–120 degrees Fahrenheit and no greater than 85 percent relative humidity. Once applied, it must have a consistency and texture that does not accumulate dirt or debris and must remain stable in ambient conditions of 75–110 degrees Fahrenheit and over 90 percent humidity.
Primary NAICS code is 324191 (Petroleum Lubricating Oil and Grease Manufacturing), though the Navy encourages responses from vendors operating under NAICS 325510 (Paint and Coating Manufacturing) and NAICS 325998 (All Other Miscellaneous Chemical Product and Preparation Manufacturing). PSC code is 9150 (Oils and Greases: Cutting, Lubricating, and Hydraulic). Responses must include company information, CAGE code, points of contact, CMMC level certification, business size status, and technical data demonstrating the product meets minimum specifications. Submissions are electronic only, addressed to Michael Brodie at michael.s.brodie7.civ@us.navy.mil. The Government will not reimburse response costs.
