About this opportunity
The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) Special Warfare Program Office is conducting market research to identify sources capable of providing an Electromagnetic Interference (EMI)-robust one-way attack small unmanned aircraft system (sUAS) for specialized use by Special Tactics Teams. This Request for Information seeks information on systems that integrate commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) components with in-house custom components, including an Electronic Safe and Arm Device (ESAD), while maintaining National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) compliance and avoiding Chinese supply chain dependencies. Key system requirements include GPS and 4G/LTE/5G cellular connectivity with true frequency hopping capabilities, an operational range of at least 10 kilometers (with a 20-kilometer objective), vertical takeoff and landing capability, and support for First-Person View One-Way Attack missions. Responses must be submitted electronically by April 17, 2026, at 12:00 PM Eastern time to the designated contracting and program management personnel. Interested parties should submit comprehensive responses not exceeding 15 pages that include company information, detailed product specifications and capabilities, test results, delivery timelines, cost estimates, and information regarding commercial application and warranty terms.
This is a Sources Sought Synopsis and Request for Information issued for market research purposes only, and no set-aside designations have been applied to this opportunity. The government will not reimburse responders for preparation costs, and this RFI does not constitute a binding solicitation or commitment to procure. Key performance thresholds include a 30-minute flight time without payload (45-minute objective), 15-minute flight time with payload (30-minute objective), kinetic payload capacity of 1.5 kilograms (3.0-kilogram objective), system portability of 30 pounds or less with payload, battery charge time under 90 minutes, and wind tolerance up to 25 knots. Potential contractors should demonstrate the ability to deliver two units within six months and provide information regarding current similar projects and development timelines. While no specific budget range or award value is disclosed in this market research notice, the government's interest in near-term delivery of prototype units and the technical sophistication of the requirements suggest this could lead to a significant development and production contract.

The United States (US) Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC), Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance & Special Operations Forces (ISR & SOF) Directorate, Special Warfare (SW) Program Office (AFLCMC/WISN) is conducting market research to identify possible sources capable of providing an Electromagnetic Interference (EMI)-robust one-way attack (OWA) drone leveraging commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) components, a completed solution with in-house custom components and Electronic Safe and Arm Device (ESAD), that are National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA)-compliant and circumvent Chinese supply constraints. This system needs to integrate Global Positioning System (GPS), 4G/LTE/5G cellular connectivity, true frequency hopping between bands, and an optional repeater to extend operational range to over 20 kilometers (km). Designed for specialized individuals within Special Tactics Teams (STTs), this capability will enable the integration of First-Person View One-Way Attack (FPV OWA) into core mission sets, including Global Access, Precision Strike, and Personnel Recovery.
